02Mine electrification
As the mining industry continues to evolve, we are leading the way in mine electrification in Australia with a proven track record of multiple electric vehicle trials and a full underground mine electrification study. In collaboration with our partners, we’ve discovered that all-electric mine is a reality. Key findings of the study included:
- Based on Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) provided assumptions, BEV fleet offerings matching the productivity of the existing Cosmos diesel mobile fleet are available to the Australian market.
- The estimated cost to electrify the underground fleet at Cosmos mine was not prohibitive over the envisaged life of mine, even based on conservative productivity and cost assumptions.
- The total power consumption of a fully electrified fleet was calculated to be less than that of the equivalent diesel operation, due to substantial power savings in mine cooling and ventilation.”
